Senior Project Designer (Roofing and Cladding)

Our Head Office is near Hulland Ward, which is 15 minutes’ drive from Belper/Ashbourne and 30 minutes from Derby City. We have a modern, open plan office setup with fantastic views over the countryside

Responsibilities & Duties (not limited to, but as a general overview):

  • Reporting to a Design Manager or Design Director, you will be designing project specific details for roofing and cladding systems, predominately within AutoCAD 2d (3d advantageous).
  • It is expected that as a Senior Designer you possess the skills and knowledge to take control of the design process with minimum input from the Design Manager/Director.
  • Working closely with 3rd party contractors, such as steelworkers, glazers etc to ensure details are co-ordinated and steelworker is correctly positioned.
  • Liaising with external teams, such as manufacturers, architects, main contractors to provide them with the relevant information.
  • Ensuring projects have all the relevant information to allow design and installation to progress, such as wind load data from suppliers, design forms complete and signed off, all the latest information from contractors portals, etc.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years experience within a similar role and able to demonstrate specific projects they have worked on in a Senior Position.
  • Must have the organisation and confidence to lead the design of a project, ensuring all elements of design of completed to all relevant standards and guidance, within budget and within programme.
  • Must be organised, self-motivated, methodical with good attention to detail.
  • Pro-active, flexible approach with an ability to work to deadlines.
  • Good communication skills with confidence and a professional attitude.
  • GCSE qualifications (minimum Grade C in Maths, English and Science.)
  • Good computer skills, including all Microsoft packages.
  • Good time keeping skills, with an ability to co-ordinate multiple projects at a time.

Training

  • Predominantly on the job training, shadowing other team members.
  • Specific courses (3d, BIM) available for the right candidate.
  • Site visits viewing ongoing projects.
